South Korea cuts power to Kaesong park


South Korea can start talks with Washington as early as next week on deploying an advanced U.S. missile weaponry following North Korea's rocket launch, an official claimed on Friday, as Seoul cut power to a manufacturing plant park run collectively with the North.

The discussions would target putting one Terminal High Altitude space Defence (THAAD) unit with the U.S. military in Asian nation once the North's launch last weekend.

Seoul and Washington told the check profaned U.N. council resolutions.

South Korea on Wed suspended operations at the Kaesong industrial zone as penalization for the rocket launch and a nuclear check last month. The zone, situated simply within Asian country, had operated for quite a decade.

The North known as the move "a declaration of war" on Thursday and expelled the South's staff. Kaesong was the last venue for normal interaction between the divided Koreas.

The 280 South Koreans who had remained in Kaesong hurried to depart the commercial park on thursday evening, finishing the retreat at 11:05 p.m.(1405 GMT), the South's Unification Ministry, that handles relations with the North.

A few minutes before midnight, the South shut off the provision of electricity into Kaesong that high-powered the manufacturing plant zone, the ministry said ahead of time Friday. It additionally cut the facility.
